Kittens and sleep

So we are discovering that kittens do not lend themselves to a household of sleeping.  It is not the kitten that is disruptive per say (although the bell on the collar must go), it is the 5 year old who wants to pet the kitten constantly.  He has come to me the last two nights carrying this poor kitten saying, "mom, I don't really feel like sleeping- I just want to pet Oscar".  This makes for a very tired mommy.  Which brings me to this question- how many of you out there sleep while your husband gets ready for work?  Just wondering?  I feel guilty when I don't get up when Jeff goes downstairs to eat breakfast, drink coffee etc... but after going back to work last week, keeping up with kids, getting up several times in the night with various children, or being awake for partner snoring reasons or heartburn reasons of my own- I am soo tired!  What do you do at your house?

During the school year I'm up before Ricky fixing Kalyn's lunch, getting breakfast, etc then we're off to school. During the summer months I stay in bed! ;o) Don't feel guilty...take all the sleep you can get!!

I made all my kids grow up. Now it's not a problem.

you went back to work?! where have i been??
and honey, my kids are great sleepers, brody doesn't snore (yet), i don't work outside the house, and i STILL sleep in! i just feel like i need that extra few minutes.

** i'm sitting here three minutes after typing this wondering if i post the part about my kids being great sleepers that i will jinx myself and have one of them wake me up in the middle of the night...

Ben usually goes to the gym in the mornings and I am dead asleep. Unfortunately Beck usually hears him leave so he then comes to my bed to keep me company. The non-stop talking begins, "can we get up yet?" "Is Briggsy awake yet?" "I am hungry." It is never restful after that! BUT I wouldn't feel guilty because at least the husband gets to eat one kid-less meal. I am so jealous of that lunch hour.

Girl I never get up with my husband and we are doing OK. HA HA I don't do his laundry either his choice. When he is home he will sometimes get the kids up and let me sleep.

We have an agreement -- he doesn't get up in the middle of the night with any of them (because he says he needs his sleep for work the next day) -- therefore, I do not get up with him in the morning when he leaves for work because I need my sleep for "work" the next day. I don't remember signing that agreement anywhere or even stating it out loud, but it works for us! ha! By the way, I loved your comment on my post!! If you couldn't tell, one of mine WAS still in his underwear!! haha!

My dear sista...also imagine if you didn't have a husband and had to work full time plus extra hours. Huh. Is THAT why I need anger management?? You are strong and you will get to sleep in a few years. In the meantime, you and I can continue calling each other to bitch as much as we like. I may be full of bitterness and rage, but I will NEVER judge you for misbehaving. :)

Love you!

I'm not a mommy, but I don't believe in getting up any earlier than you have to. It's the "have to" that will change with age and stage. But still. The principle stands!
