Oscar
When your 5 year old sits nose to nose petting a kitten and you hear him whisper into the kitten's face "you're the kitten I've been looking for all my life"- do you adopt the kitten from the animal defense league? I'd like to know how many of you could say no. I couldn't- and now we have Oscar- a 5 month old kitten who doesn't even mind that Jaxon carried him through the living room holding him by just his tail this morning. He is a GREAT cat! Cooper has thanked me at least a dozen times for letting us bring him home. He still wants to go to the animal defense league and pet the lonely kittens and walk the sad doggies (those are his words). We have been there for the last few weekends volunteering and this week came home with Oscar. So what would you do?

I'd probably do the same thing as you did, unfortunately, Ricky detests cats so there would be no way he would let us bring a kitten home with us! Doggies are a completely different story! ;o)

if we're going to be honest, i'd be politically incorrect and say we don't like cats and i try to avoid any place where we will come across an animal so that i don't have the mommy guilt of telling scarlett she can't get a pet.
BUT...you are an awesome mommy and know what that boy needs. if i've ever seen a kid who loved/needed a pet more, i don't remember where. cooper was made to be a pet owner!! congrats~
I most definitely would have come home with the cat but it wouldn't have lasted here at our house. Hubby and sons hate cats and everyone else seems to be allergic to them.
