There's a first time for everything

For the first time in I don 't know how long we went a whole weekend without eating out!  That may not mean much to some of you but we are an eating out, convenience, on the go kind of family every weekend.  We have calculated many times how much money we spend eating out and even though we pick places that have decent kids meal prices we still put a huge hole in our budget.  We have been talking about how lucky we are and how we abuse so many times the money that God gives us. (not that we don't give but we don't protect and use wisely the money left over.  So this was a big weekend for us!  Not one penny spent on fast food or the like.  We are striving to do the same for the week.  I wonder how long we could go before we did eat out next?  What is the longest you have ever been without eating out- or is there a set standard in your home about how much you do or don't eat out?  Do share!

Ha! We love to eat out...especially on the weekends! I normally try to cook at least 3 meals during the week and Wednesdays we just eat leftovers or whatever before church. We're trying to eat more meals at home and I'm trying to send lunches with Ricky to work more often. It's just hard to stick with the habit! ;o) Missed you this morning!! Hope you had a GREAT family day!

We love to eat out as well but really try to keep it to a minimum. Always on Sunday we eat out after church. One night a week we get take out or possibly eat out - depends on the state of my patience :-).
Once a week I used to pick up a meal for the kids at lunch but now they are usually at school for lunch (Summer 5 days, Noah 3) which we pack.

Huh. I'm very fortunate not to have to rely on willpower or patience. Just don't have the choice on one income. HEY, sis, you could pretend you're a divorced mother surrounded by privilege but working your ass off and single-handedly taking care of everything by yourself because you know you're still financially better off than millions of people, and so what if you can't afford pretty church clothes and manicures and vacations - you've got teenagers who love your special recipe of spaghetti and you feel gratitude that you don't live in a cardboard box on Buford Hwy.

we rarely if ever eat out during the week. it's definitely a special treat if scarlett gets lunch out. we've started eating leftovers or something easy friday nights. saturday we try to only eat out one meal, and then sunday we almost always go out with the whole family. so basically, we try to eat out only twice a week.

being newlyweds, we are trying to start out the right way and limit ourselves. even though it can be VERY tough sometimes. it's just so much easier to "pick something up", especially on lazy days when you really just don't feel like making anything.

We grab a fast food meal on Wed. nights before church and then our family tradition is to eat breakfast/brunch out on Sat. mornings--at least most Sat. Sunday morning after church we also either go out or pick something up...sat.night is a sometimes eat out or grab something. Gosh, I guess we eat out more than I think. :-) Missed you Sunday AM.
